Decay mechanisms of activated metal clusters — •Klavs Hansen — Gothenburg University, Gothenburg, Sweden

Excited gas phase clusters can decay via a range of different channels. The most important are emisison of atoms and smaller neutral fragments, but also electron emission and fission processes have been observed. Emission of electromagnetic radiation is important at long timescales and are relevant for experiments in ion traps and storage rings. Often these processes are of statistical nature and can be described with rate constants that have close analogies to those employed in nuclear physics. The presentation will give an overview of recent developments in the field.
