Structural transformations in AS21X alloy — •Miloš Janeček, Torbjørn Lamark und Juri Estrin — Institut für Werkstoffkunde und Werkstofftechnik, TU Clausthal, Agricolastr. 6, 38678 Clausthal-Zellerfeld

The evolution of precipitation processes in a commercial magnesium alloy AS21X was studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron diffraction and energy dispersive X–ray analysis. Three different states, namely the as cast state and two annealed states after 1000 and 2000 hours, were selected for the investigation of precipitation processes in this alloy. Furthermore, it was demonstrated by TEM analysis that twinning is the predominant deformation mechanism in this alloy under the conditions studied.
