We investigated diffraction pattern for the heteronuclear molecule CO in a geometry in which the detector is aligned parallel to the light polarization and the molecular axis orientation. If the ionized atom is directed towards the detector the diffraction pattern as function of the photoelectron momentum is dominated by a single peak whereas the opposite orientation shows a pronounced oscillation. Both features can be attributed to intramolecular scattering, however they reveal different information on the scattering behavior, as will be presented.
