In the radiative decay of (n,0)1P, (n,−1)1P and (n,+1)1P with N=2 doubly excited He states, three photons are consecutively emitted. Spectra for the corresponding cascades are registered using photon induced fluorescence spectroscopy (PIFS) in the spectral range of the VUV and the visible. Cross sections for the photon emission were measured and are compared with calculations. Good agreement is observed. Especially, for the (n,−1) - states a broad decay pattern is predicted with the (n−1)d → 2p transition having the largest relative probability. The experimental results confirm this prediction. Finally, the alignment of the 1s4d1D state is measured.
