MULTIPHOTON DETACHMENT OF F IN A STRONG CIRCULAR POLARIZED LASER FIELDS — •Boris Bergues, Zunaira Ansari, Hanspeter Helm, and Igor Yu. Kiyan — Department of Optical and Molecular Physics, Stefan-Meier-Str. 19, 79104 Freiburg, Germany.

Negative fluorine ions are exposed to strong circular polarized infrared laser pulses of approximately 120 fs duration and peak intensity of the order of 1013W/cm2. The photodetached electrons are projected onto a 2D position sensitive detector. Taking advantage of the cylindrical symmetry with respect to the propagation axis of the laser beam, the full 3D information is recovered by a back projection algorithm, yielding the angular resolved energy spectrum of the photoelectrons. In contrast to our previous experiments using linear polarized light [1], the spectrum doesn’t exhibit any structure that can be associated with the quantum interference effect. This result is in accord with our recent theoretical predictions published in Ref.[2]. The experiment also revealed, that the length gauge is appropriate for the description of the field interaction in the Keldysh theory. This work is supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Grant No. KI 865/1-1.
