Status of MLLTRAP — •V. S. Kolhinen, M. Bussmann, D. Habs, S. Heinz, J. Neumyer, U. Schramm, J. Szerypo, and P. Thirolf — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, München, Depatrment für Physik

An ion trap system, MLLTRAP, is now in its construction phase in the MLL-laboratory in Munich. The ions will be charge breeded in an EBIS to obtain higher cyclotron frequencies. The highly charged ions are then sympathetically cooled with Mg+ ions [1] before beeing injected into the measurement traps. The goal of the project is to investigate medium-mass and heavy neutron-rich isotopes from both thermal fission and fusion reactions. As main experiments, the precise mass measurements and charged particle spectroscopy in-trap are foreseen. Both TOF-method and FT-ICR-method will be used to determine masses of ions. This poster will present the present status of the project.
