Over two past decades, strong-field phenomena attracted experimental and theoretical attention. Recently, the development of experimental imaging techniques, for instance, allowed to measure a correlated electron momentum spectrum in ionization of rare gas atoms [1]. Such measurements permit a kinematically complete analysis of double ionization.

In this contribution, we study the behavior of (light) noble-gas atoms exposed to the electric field of a short-pulse laser. Time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) is employed to describe the electron emission in single and double ionization. The simple crapola model [2] is employed in order to account for the nonrelativistic, correlated dynamics in the two-electron continuum. Due to the relative low computational cost of TDDFT, we are able to consider the problem in full 3D dimensionality. Ionization yields and correlated electron momentum distributions for multiple ionization in intense laser fields will be presented. The method can be easily extended to more complex systems.
