We treat the dynamics of copolymeric structures with heterogeneity in the mobility of the beads using the Rouse model. The structures that we treat are alternating copolymer chains and regular lattice networks built from these, dendrimers with alternating generations, as well as branched polymers synthesized by end-linking star-like units. We show the effects of alternating mobility of the beads. These effects are well seen in the mechanical relaxation quantities, such as the storage and the loss moduli. The dynamics of the end-linked star polymer structures combines the relaxation of the star arms (spacer chains) and the branching units. We analytically separate these two processes and map the eigenmode spectrum of a homogeneous system to that of a system with spacers. When the spectrum of the homogeneous system is known analytically, this allows for a full analytic solution. We discuss also the important effects connected to the length and mobility of the spacers.
