Organic semiconductors, such as pentacene, are promising candidates for several applications, including electronic devices. In order to develop an understanding for the interaction of pentacene with layered transition metal dichalcogenide surfaces, a combination of experimental techniques was employed. An angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) investigation of the electronic structure during pentacene deposition on 1T-TiSe2 and 1T-TaS2 was carried out using the ASPHERE spectrometer at beamline W3.2 at HASYLAB. The geometric alignment of pentacene molecules on the substrates was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). ARPES and STM data will be presented and discussed.
