The SOLPS 4.0 code (based upon the plasma fluid equations solver B2 and the Monte-Carlo code EIRENE for neutral dynamics) is the main tool for numerical simulation of the ITER edge and divertor plasma. The recent version of the code is now able to model the effects of neutral-neutral collisions (in BGK approximation) and has an updated molecular dynamics model which includes molecular-ion elastic collisions and No-dqMolecular Assisted RecombinationNo-dq (MAR). The 2D computational domain for the plasma flow is supplemented by a triangular grid to cover the whole volume up to the vacuum vessel wall for calculation of neutral particle effects. A series of calculations for typical ITER model parameters with full carbon walls showed that the main effect of the new processes is the heating of molecules, thus, higher neutral pressure in the Private Flux Region (PFR). The pumping speed is increased because of the higher molecular fraction in the total pressure as a result of atom cooling. The main operational parameters of the divertor remain approximately the same, but the operational window shifts towards higher PFR gas pressure.
