Muon g-2: Status on the Theory Side — •Michal Czakon — DESY Zeuthen and University of Silesia

Theoretical calculations behind the current prediction of the muon g-2 are reviewed. Particular attention is given to the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution and the discrepancy between the τ and e⁺e⁻ data. Predictions from extensions of the Standard Model are discussed.
