The absolute calibration of the MAGIC telescope using muons — •Keiichi Mase1, Markus Meyer2, Razmik Mirzoyan1, and Masahiro Teshima11Max-Planck-Institut für Physik (Werner-Heisenberg-Institut), Föhringer Ring 6, 80805 München, Germany — 2Institut für Theoretische Physik und Astrophysik, Universität Würzburg, Am Hubland, 97074 Würzburg, Germany

The 17m MAGIC telescope is the largest operational single dish Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope (IACT) in the world. Because of its very high photon sensitivity MAGIC triggers on Cherenkov light from muons in a wide range of impact parameters. On the one hand muons are an unwanted background, degrading the sensitivity, on the other hand one can calibrate the entire telescope by using the ring and arc images from muons. In our report we present the results of such a calibration.
