In order to validate the Offline Computing Model and the complete software suite, ATLAS is running a series of Data Challenges (DC).

The second of these Data Challenges, DC2, was undertaken in 2004. A new automated production system was developed for DC2 with its major design aims being the minimization of human input and the maximization of robustness. The production system is designed to provide a common framework into which any GRID flavor or legacy system may be integrated.

The production system is described with special attention being paid to the integral parts and a description of the task flow through a production run is provided.
