Optimization of electron trajectories in a cold-cavity gyrotron resonator — •Rita Meyer-Spasche1, Markus Goetz1, and Christoph Bueskens21MPI für Plasmaphysik, 85748 Garching — 2Zentrum für Technomathematik, U Bremen

A system of initial value problems is considered which describes electron trajectories in a cold-cavity gyrotron resonator. First a parameter-dependent simplified dynamical system is analysed. Then two different optimizations of the η-efficiency of the gyrotron are discussed: parameter optimization with given forcing term and deformation of the forcing term by optimal control.

Specific features of the problem are: the number of equations corresponds to the number of electrons in the beam - should be LARGE; bang-bang control is not possible because of the physics of the problem.
