Hall Conductivity in dense plasma — •Heidi Reinholz, John Adams, Ronald Redmer, and Martin French — Institut für Physik, Universität Rostock, 18055 Rostock

The Hall conductivity is investigated as a tool for diagnostics in dense plasmas under the influence of magnetic fields. A theoretical approach for the Hall coefficient is developed within the framework of the Zubarev formalism and linear response theory. Comparison is made with the relaxation time approximation. Our approach allows for a consistent investigation of the Hall coefficient and other thermoelectric transport properties including electron-electron interactions [1,2] and other scattering mechanisms relevant in partially ionized plasmas. Finally, we compare with recent experimental results for the Hall conductivity in partially ionized Argon and Xenon plasma [3].
