The prediction of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon in the Standard Model is reviewed. Emphasis is on recent changes, the role of the running electromagnetic coupling and possible further improvement in the evaluation of the hadronic contributions. The SM prediction of g-2 is confronted with the measurement from Brookhaven, and possible explanations for the discrepancy of more than two standard deviations are discussed.
