Model study of EuB6 and half-metals in general — •Michael Kreissl and Wolfgang Nolting — Institut fü Physik, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, 12489 Berlin, Germany

By means of a recently developed many-body-theory for the Kondo lattice model, the electronic and magnetic properties of half-metals were studied.
We present temperature dependant quasiparticle density of states, band structure and magnetization, as well as the Curie temperature for various coupling strengths. With a specific parameter set, motivated through experimental data, we were able to reproduce the electronic properties of EuB6 which undergoes a half-metal to semiconductor transition concomitant with the magnetic phase transition.
