Heterogeneous electron transfer (ET) between different molecules adsorbed on semiconductor surfaces has been investigated mainly with TiO2 as the substrate [1,2]. The (10-10) surface of ZnO was used here as a substrate in order to investigate the influence of the nature of the semiconductor on the injection and relaxation dynamics. For both substrates electron transfer and relaxation dynamics were measured using time resolved two-photon photoelectron spectroscopy (TR-2PPE). Angular dependent 2PPE intensity was measured in order to extract information on the orientation of the molecules on the surface of the semiconductor. Others techniques such as XPS, UPS, and LEED were used in addition to characterize the surface of the clean and the dye-covered ZnO (10-10) single crystal surface, respectively. These results are compared with measurements on identical systems using TiO2 as a substrate.
