Simulation for the Muon Detector of PANDA — •Marco Destefanis — II. Physikalisches Institut, Universität Gießen, Germany

The PANDA experiment which is part of the future FAIR facility at Darmstadt will investigate reactions of antiprotons with hydrogen and nuclear targets. One of the main goals of PANDA is the charmonium states spectroscopy with a very high and unprecedented accuracy. Many of the channels of interest are involving muonic decays. Moreover, measurements at PANDA with the highest luminosity and beam momentum will open the possibility to study the Drell-Yan process in the channel p p → µ+ µ X. In order to detect and track the muons, a muon detector system in the target and the forward region is forseen. Many options are under study for the PANDA spectrometer. A possible option could be the use of Iarocci Tubes and Strip detectors combined together as tracking stations. This talk will report on the actual design and status of the muon detector system, expecially related to the Drell-Yan process.
