Influence of collisions on the collective modes of a QGP — •Bjoern Schenke1, Carsten Greiner1, Michael Strickland1, and Markus Thoma21Institut für Theoretische Physik, Johann Wolfgang Goethe - Universität Frankfurt, Max-von-Laue-Straße 1, D-60438 Frankfurt am Main — 2Max-Planck-Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, P.O. We study the influence of collisions among hard particles on the collective modes of finite-temperature QCD. In particular the important effect on the growth rate of the instable modes in an anisotropic system is discussed. This is of relevance for understanding the early thermalization of a quark gluon plasma in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions.
