Polymerization processes in reactive plasmas leading to the formation of particles inside the plasma volume open the possibilities for a manifold of interesting investigations.

We present here the astrophysical applications of plasma polymerised nanoparticles. Laboratory investigations on these so called astroanalogues are an important tool for the analysis and the understanding of the diverse astronomically observed phenomena whose nature is still unclear. For this purposes we performed different ex-situ particle characterisations. Moreover, the confinement of the particles within the plasma allows us the use of several in-situ diagnostics as FTIR-spectroscopy, UV-extinction and scattering measurements.

The aim of our investigations is the analysis of two correlated astrophysical phenomena which origin is dust in the interstellar medium: first are absorption features in near and middle infrared region and second the UV-bump at 217.5 nm. The laboratory obtained data are successfully evaluated by comparison with existing interstellar extinction curves.
