Structure of the offshore wind profile of the boundary layer. — •Allan Morales and Joachim Peinke — Physhics Institute, Oldenburg University

From high frequency (1-50Hz) wind and temperature offshore measurements from the research platform in the north sea FINO I , it is possible to get a better understanding of the complexity of wind fields. We analyze these data with respect to high frequency instabilities. As a characteristic parameter we calculate the instantaneous thermal stability of the meteorological boundary layer by means of the Richardsons number. We use these results to get a better, more detailed description of the mean wind profile of the boundary layer. In particular we consider the 10 min. wind profile as a nonstationary superposition of different wind profile situations.
