Zn/Pd(111) - Adlayer versus Alloy Formation: An Investigation by Low-Energy Ion Scattering — •Werner Stadlmayr and Norbert Memmel — Institute of Physical Chemistry, University of Innsbruck, A-6020 Innsbruck, Austria

The system Zn/Pd(111) has recently attracted attention due to its relevance for methanol steam reforming. However, conflicting growth modes were reported in XPS studies [1] and TPD/CO-titration investigations [2], respectively. While the former work postulates the onset of alloy formation already slightly above room temperature, the latter work excludes alloy formation below 600 K.
