Nonadiabatic molecular dynamics simulations of C60-C60 collisions — •Jan Handt and Rüdiger Schmidt — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Technische Universität Dresden, D-01062 Dresden

We present a theoretical study of the high-energy collision dynamics as well as of the low-energy collision dynamics influenced by laser irradiation. In both the cases electronic excitation has to be considered, i.e. a nonadiabatic approach is neccessary. Using a combination of molecular dynamics and time-dependent density functional theory we can describe the nonadiabatic dynamics. We show computational results of collisions up to energies of 1 MeV where electronic excitation dominates, and effects of the laser light for fusion processes in the low-energy range.
