Relativity versus elementary philosophy — •Jürgen Brandes — Danziger Str. 65, 76307 Karlsbad

Relativity, Lorentz transformations, Minkowski space - all of it is well proven experimentally. But 'relativity of simultaneity' contradicts convincing philosophical arguments.

Without doubt, there is 'present', 'future' and 'past'. Present means being 'reality', future events become reality, past events lost reality. Everywhere in the universe there is reality in a defined manner - a supernova explodes, will explode or exploded, but not all of it at once. 'Simultaneity' means 'all present events together' or, reformulated, all real events happen simultaneous. This is well defined, these events exist, the others do not. The relativistic counter-argument denies equivalence of present and reality. 'Für uns gläubige Physiker hat die Scheidung zwischen Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft nur die Bedeutung einer wenn auch hartnäckigen Illusion.' [Einstein]. Convincing if one considers the Minkowski space, not convincing if one considers the interconnection between 'being present' and 'being reality'.

This talk was sorted in 'orthodoxe Kritiker' ('crazy' critics), s. DD 6.2 in 2007. Certainly not correct since it reports elementary philosophical reasoning [Kant, May, Dessauer].
