Neutronics experiments for validation of activation and neutron transport data for fusion application at the DT neutron generator of TU Dresden — •Axel Klix1, Alexander Domula2, Ulrich Fischer1, Daniel Gehre2, Damien Lebrun-Grandie1, Dieter Leichtle1, and Marian Sommer21Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, INR, Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, Germany — 2Technische Universität Dresden, IKTP, Dresden, Germany

Nuclear parameters such as the tritium breeding rate of the blanket and the activation of materials near the fusion plasma are important for the design of fusion reactor components, the licensing process, maintenance procedures, decommissioning and recycling. The assessment of these parameters is based on calculations with sophisticated neutron transport and inventory codes as well as nuclear data libraries which serve as input to the calculations. Experimental validation of codes and data is therefore mandatory. The neutron laboratory of TU Dresden has a longstanding involvement in neutronics experiments aiming at the validation of such neutron transport and activation data in the framework of the European fusion development program. The experiments have been performed in close collaboration with FZK/KIT, ENEA, PTB, UKAEA and also non-European organizations such as JAEA and Osaka University. Recent experiments conducted at the laboratory, their results and analysis will be presented. Emphasis will be on experiments with mock-ups of the two European test blanket modules for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor ITER.
