Local thermal equilibrium and gravity — •Rainer Verch — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Leipzig

In cosmology, many assertions are based on assuming that matter is close to thermal equilibrium. Detlev Buchholz et al. have made an attempt towards a more precise concept of local thermal equilibrium in quantum field theory. We present an approach towards generalization of this concept to quantum field theory in curved spacetimes, and some interesting results, also pertaining to scenarios in cosmology.
