By means of photoluminescence (PL) spectra we have investigate the Landau level structure of direct and indirect excitons in AlGaAs/GaAs coupled-quantum-wells (CQW). The electric and magnetic fields were applied perpendicular to the CQW. For magnetic fields B > 2T higher Landau levels (LL) can be observed. The non-equilibrium carrier density was estimated from the intensity evolution of the different LLs for the indirect excitons: i) the second LL disappears for the fields corresponding to filling factor ν < 2 and ii) the intensity of the first LL decreases at ν = 1. We have noted that the effective density increases with increasing electric field. The observed phenomena will be discussed. We acknowledge financial support by the Center for NanoScience (CeNS), the Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM), the DFG Project KO 416/17 and A. v. Humboldt Stiftung.
