The production of muon-antimuon pairs in electron-positron collisions within an external laser field is studied. The effect of the laser field on the total cross section is examined in different kinematic regimes, in particular in the case where the free e+e− energies do not exceed the muon pair creation threshold of 2mµc2. A comparison with the laser-free reaction is given regarding total cross sections and energy spectra.
