Advanced laser system for atom interferometry — •Christoph Grzeschik1, Max Schiemangk1, Achim Peters1, and the QUANTUS Team1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,91Institut für Physik, HU Berlin — 2Institut für Quantenoptik, LU Hannover — 3Institut für Laserphysik, Uni Hamburg — 4ZARM, Uni Bremen — 5Institut für Quantenphysik, Uni Ulm — 6MPQ, München — 7Institut für angewandte Physik, TU Darmstadt — 8Midlands Ultracold Atom Research Centre, University of Birmingham, UK — 9FBH, Berlin

In preparation for future quantum gas experiments in space, preliminary experiments are currently performed at the ZARM drop tower in Bremen and a sounding rocket mission is planned for the near future.

The poster presents key components of a compact and robust laser systems, e.g. a Raman laser system and a hybrid integrated master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA). To provide an intrinsic phase stability the Raman laser system is based on injection locking of modulated light. Capture range measurements and the suppression of parasitric frequencies have been investigated with different types of injected diodes. The MOPA, whose components are integrated on a 10×50 mm2 microbench, allows for outputpower in the Watt range, while preserving the spectral characterisics of the DFB laser diode, which has an intrinsic linewidth of approx. 100 kHz at operation conditions.

The QUANTUS project is supported by the German Space Agency DLR with funds provided by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) under grant number DLR 50WM1131-1137.
