Gamma-Quenching in liquid scintillators used in Borexino and Lena — •Timo Lewke, Lothar Oberauer, and Michael Wurm — Technische Universität München, James-Franck-Str., 85748 Garching

Borexino is a low energy neutrino detector. As the main component is the organic liquid scintillator it is important to know the characteristics of this liquid. Also for future detectors like Lena it is a major question to know the behaviour of the used scintillator. Therefore the quenching of different liquid scintillators has to be examined in order to get a good detector response function. This talk will focus on the so called gamma-quenching, its measurement and first results achieved so far. This work was funded by the DFG, the excellence cluster "Universe" and the Maier-Leibnitz-Laboratorium (Garching).
