Deep observations of the Large Magellanic Could with H.E.S.S. — •Chia-Chun Lu1 and Nukri Komin21Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik, P.O. The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), an irregular galaxy of about 10 degree extension at a distance of 48 kpc, has been observed with the H.E.S.S. telescope system since 2003. In the LMC there are many potential TeV sources like pulsar wind nebulae, supernova remnants, star clusters and star-forming regions. About 50 hours of observations led to the detection of very-high-energy (VHE, >100 GeV) γ-ray emission from the composite supernova remnant N157B, powered by the most energetic pulsar known. From the initial target of the H.E.S.S. observations, the very young supernova remnant SN 1987A, no VHE γ-ray signal has been detected so far, however, current upper limits on the emission are at the level of the predicted emission. The results of the VHE γ-ray data analysis are presented and discussed in a multi-wavelength scenario.
