Measurement of transverse momentum spectra of identified hadrons from pp and PbPb collisions with the ALICE experiment — •Alexander Kalweit — Institut für Kernphysik, Technische Universität Darmstadt
The ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has collected pp data at a center of mass energy of √s = 900 GeV and √s = 7 TeV as well as PbPb data at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. With its excellent particle identification capabilities, the ALICE experiment is measuring transverse momentum spectra of hadrons at these energies and collision systems. Charged kaons, pions, protons, and deuterons can be identified via their specific energy loss in the Time Projection Chamber (TPC) and the Inner Tracking System (ITS) as well as with the Time-of-Flight detector (TOF). Additionally, the weak decay of strange particles allows to detect them via their displaced vertex. Spectral shapes and the integrated yields are presented and discussed along with the various models with a particular focus on strangeness production.
