CP asymmetry in fully inclusive bs γ decays — •Luis Pesántez, Jochen Dingfelder, and Phillip Urquijo — Physikalisches Institut, Universität Bonn

We study the CP asymmetry in the fully-inclusive bs γ decay (AsγCP). This analysis uses the complete data set taken from e+e collisions on the Υ(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB B-factory in Tsukuba, Japan, consisting of 772 × 106 BB pairs. The flavour of the signal B meson is determined by reconstructing a lepton in the decay of the partner meson in the BB event. The continuum background (from e+eqq, where q = u, d, s, c) and BB backgrounds are several orders of magnitude larger than our signal, therefore it is necessary to develop powerful background suppression methods. We present the preliminary status of the event selection and background suppression methods utilising multivariate discriminants.
This is the first fully-inclusive study of AsγCP at Belle. Finding a significant deviation from zero would give an important hint for new physics contributions beyond the Standard Model, or otherwise help to constrain new physics models with CP violation.
