Trigger optimization studies in HWW searches at ATLAS — •Bonnie Chow, Johannes Ebke, Johannes Elmsheuser, Christian Meineck, Michiel Sanders, Dorothee Schaile, Dan Vladoiu, and Jonas Will — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München

Trigger optimization studies for the search of the Standard-Model Higgs boson in proton-proton-collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s=7 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are presented. The focus of the analysis is the Higgs boson decay channel HW+W → ℓ+ νν_ℓ where ℓ = e, µ . Since the data taken by ATLAS in 2010 and 2011 showed that the Higgs boson is lighter than approx. 145 GeV, triggers and lepton identifications have to be adapted to lower transverse momenta thresholds. For various leptonic triggers, the trigger efficiencies have been measured in data and also Monte Carlo simulations. The talk will include a discussion of the results obtained and comparisons between the performance of the triggers.
