χ1± and χ20 Separation as Performance Study for a Fast Detector Simulation at the ILC — •Madalina Chera1,2, Mikael Berggren1, and Jenny List11DESY Hamburg, Notkestr. 85 22607 — 2Universität Hamburg, Inst. f. Exp.-Physik, 22761 Hamburg

The physics program of the planned International Linear Collider (ILC) comprises very high precision measurements of phenomena beyond the Standard Model. The detector designs for the ILC have been particularly optimised for the concept of particle flow, using a GEANT4 based detector simulation. In order to obtain the large statistics for studying the physics reach of the ILC, the CPU runtime should be reduced by employing a fast detector simulation.

This talk will describe the parametrisations derived to model the particle flow performance. To validate the fast simulation, a study case which challenges the particle flow reconstruction has been chosen, namely the chargino and neutralino pair production in a scenario where the χ1± and χ20 are heavy enough to decay into W±χ10 and Zχ10 respectively. The separation of the two processes when the gauge bosons decay fully hadronically represents a challenge due to the crucial role played by the jet energy resolution. Fast and full simulation will be compared in terms of physics observables like the obtained mass and cross-section resolutions.
