Search for neutrino point sources with the IceCube 79-string detector — •Sirin Odrowski — Technische Universität München, Boltzmannstrasse 2, 85748 Garching, Deutschland

Neutrinos in the energy range above a few hundred GeV are unique messengers to search for cosmic accelerators of hadrons. The now completed IceCube neutrino telescope at the South Pole uses optical sensors deployed deep in the ice to detect these neutrinos. The work presented here is based on the data taken from 2010 to 2011 in a nearly complete detector configuration. This data set presents the temporarily last big step in the size of the instrumented volume and the data analyses developed for this configuration are going to lead the way for future searches with the full detector. We present the status and performance of a search for point-like neutrino emission in the northern and in the southern hemisphere. Searches for multiple weak sources or neutrino emission with a different spatial morphology will also be covered in the presentation.
