Spectroscopic investigation of exotic nuclei is of large current interest. In-flight γ-ray spectroscopy after the Fragment Separator (FRS) at GSI is one possible experimental tool. This was successfully shown in the past during the RISING campaign [1]. The availability of the Advanced Gamma-ray Tracking Array (AGATA) at GSI will allow even more ambitious experiments. In order to commission the performance of the gamma-ray detection system, an in-beam test of a single AGATA crystal was performed in 2011 to measure count rates and background conditions to be expected for the upcoming PreSPEC campaign for in-flight γ-ray spectroscopy experiments at GSI in 2012. The experimental setup will be described and the results will be discussed.

Supported by the BMBF under 06DA9040I and by HIC for FAIR.
