A next-generation experiment on the Pygmy Dipole Resonance in neutron-rich nuclei — •Philipp Schrock — Institut für Kernphysik, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Deutschland

The Pygmy Dipole Resonance (PDR) is a dipole excitation of exotic nuclei occuring at energies around the neutron separation threshold. Though often interpreted as an oscillation of the neutron skin against the core nucleus, the collective nature of PDRs is not definitely proven.

A new experiment on neutron-rich Sn isotopes will be performed with the upgraded R3B-LAND setup at GSI to study the nature of the PDR. The interpretation will be based on a complete-kinematics measurement of all reaction participants. Presented are the main features of the experiment and the analysis concept.

This work is supported by HIC for FAIR.
