When ultra-intense laser pulses are focused on a solid surface, XUV attosecond pulses can be generated in the reflected light. In the relativistic regime, the high-frequency generation can often be approximately described by the so-called relativistically oscillating mirror (ROM) model. The properties of relativistic surface high harmonic generation (SHHG) have been investigated in recent experiments, e.g. divergence, polarization and efficiency of SHHG. It was found that the plasma scale length has a decisive influence on the efficiency of SHHG and the spacing of the attosecond pulse train.
