New detector materials for the Direct Dark Matter Search in CRESST-II and EURECAAndreas Ertl, Achim Gütlein, Jean-Côme Lanfranchi, Andrea Münster, Walter Potzel, Sabine Roth, Daniel Simon, Stephan Scholl, Moritz von Sivers, Raimund Strauss, Stephan Wawoczny, Michael Willers, •Marc Wüstrich, and Andreas Zöller — Technische Universität München, Physik Department E15, James Franck Straße, 85748 Garching

Recent results in the quest for the direct detection of Dark Matter support the hypothesis of a light Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP). To confirm the latest results, new target materials are a new approach to improve the detection and identification capability in the region of interest.
In the present CRESST-II experiment the target consists of scintillating CaWO4 single crystals operated as low-temperature detectors with excellent energy resolution and event discrimination features. Those performance characteristics are mainly limited by the lightyield of the target crystals and therefore can be further improved by introducing new scintillating target absorbers with a better scintillator efficiency.
As new target materials Al2O3(Ti), BaF2 and PbWO4 are reviewed in the aspects of lightyield, energy resolution and expected count rate for different WIMP masses. Monte Carlo Simulations evaluate the influence of those parameters on the performance of the CRESST-II experiment and the next generation experiment EURECA.
