Search for Supersymmetry in Lepton + Jets + MET final states with the ATLAS experimentVolker Buescher, Marc Hohlfeld, Katharina Jakobi, Matthias Lungwitz, Carsten Meyer, Jan Schaeffer, Manuel Simon, and •Pedro Urrejola — Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz

Supersymmetry (SUSY) is one of the most interesting extensions of the Standard Model. If SUSY exists, new supersymmetric particles should be copiously produced in the 8 TeV proton proton collisions at the LHC. In 2012 ATLAS has collected data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ∼ 21 fb−1 thus yielding the possibility to test SUSY well beyond the TeV scale.

The final states at the LHC are characterized by jets, missing transverse energy due to escaping neutralinos and, depending on the decay chain, ≥ 0 leptons. The 1 lepton final state provides a clean signature, good sensitivity and allows for good understanding of backgrounds in dedicated control regions.

The ATLAS analysis in the one lepton channel has been optimized in a model-independent way, but is also interpreted in constrained scenarios as for example minimal Supergravity models. The presentation shows the current status of the analysis based on the full 2012 data set with some emphasis on the extraction of W+jets and ttbar background.
