Using kinematic edges for ATLAS SUSY searches in final states with 2 leptonsPhilip Bechtle, Klaus Desch, and •Bjoern Sarrazin — Physikalisches Insitut, Universität Bonn

Supersymmetric models with R-parity conservation and a neutralino as lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) are attractive because the proton is stable and the LSP serves as a dark matter candidate. A common decay mode in these models is the decay of a heavier neutralino to the LSP via an intermediate slepton. In these decays two leptons with same flavor and opposite sign are produced. The distribution of the invarant mass of these leptons has a characteristic shape. Especially the position of the edge of this distribution depends only on the masses of the supersymmetric particles involved. In this talk we study how the invariant mass distribution can be used for searches for supersymmetry in final states containing two leptons at the ATLAS detector.
