In our group a crossed-beam velocity map imaging setup (VMI) has been developed to study ion-molecule reactions [1,2]. With an improved crossed beam 3D-VMI setup we have measured vibrational state-to-state differential cross-sections of the charge-transfer reaction Ar+ + N2 → Ar + N2+ with significantly increased resolution. We find qualitative agreement with the theoretical predictions of Candori et al. [3]. We will also present our progress towards selectively exciting rovibrational states with a narrowband infrared laser to study the influence of vibrational (spectator) modes. In order to separate the initial rotational states before the vibrational excitation we have implemented a Stark deflector based on the design of Filsinger et al. [4]
