Energetic Neutral Atoms (ENAs) produced along the Voyager trajectories and implications for modeling of the inner heliosheath — •Mark Siewert and Hans-Jörg Fahr — Argelander-Institut f. Astronomie, Univ. Bonn, Auf dem Hügel 71, 53121 Bonn

Over the past years, we have developed our model for the production of Energetic Neutral Atoms (ENAs) produced in the inner heliosheath, and how they relate to the skymaps obtained by the IBEX mission. We now present first results of a study aiming to improve our initial model for the outer heliosphere with independent observational data. The main contribution to this is derived from the two Voyager spacecrafts, which offer the only directly observed data on plasma properties of the heliospheric boundary layer. As it turns out, no existing model is able to describe, globally and self-consistently, all observations by the Voyagers, so a new and improved description is clearly required. We present first results on how strong a more realistic description would impact observed ENA fluxes.
