Viscosity of confined two-dimensional Yukawa-Liquids — •Stefan Landmann1, Hanno Kählert2, Hauke Thomsen2, and Michael Bonitz2 — 1ITP, Universität Leipzig — 2ITAP, Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel
Complex plasmas present an excellent system for the study of strongly coupled plasmas since the dust particles typically possess a high negative charge. In many cases their interaction can be modeled by a Yukawa potential. The transport properties of Yukawa liquids, such as diffusion or viscosity, have been studied both experimentally and theoretically.
Here, a nonequlibrium molecular dynamics simulation method is used to determine the viscosity of a two dimensional Yukawa liquid in an isotropic confinement, extending previous simulations for the heat transport [1]. The proposed method is simple but able to reproduce the minimum of the viscosity as a function of the coupling parameter, which was found in previous publications for macroscopic systems, e.g. [2]. The simulated setup is particularly suited to be realized experimentally.
