Production mode studies in the H→ττ decay channel during Run II, with the CMS experimentJoram Berger, Rene Caspart, •Fabio Colombo, Felix Frensch, Raphael Friese, Andrew Gilbert, Thomas Müller, Günter Quast, Benjamin Treiber, and Roger Wolf — Institut für Experimentelle Kernphysik (IEKP), KIT

The most outstanding result brought by the Run I of the LHC was the discovery of a scalar boson whose properties closely resemble, so far, those predicted by the Higgs mechanism in the Standard Model. During the upcoming Run II, the LHC is expected to deliver hadronic collisions at an increased center of mass energy. This will result in a corresponding increase of the Higgs cross sections in all the production processes, including the so-called VBF production or the production in association with top-quarks (ttH production), whose subsequent decays into bottom-jets possess peculiar experimental signatures. The Higgs decay into τ-lepton pairs is, in the Standard Model, among the final states with the largest product between cross section and branching ratio, and will allow to definitely estabilish the presence of the signal. The talk will be focused on the identification and separation of different Higgs production modes (for example, VBF vs. ttH) in the di-τ final state.
