The complex perovskite-type oxides with formula A2BB°O6 have been extensively investigated due to their wide range of physical properties. However, only four of them with Bi in the A position have been reported. Bi-based double perovskites are highly interesting because of their magneto-electric effects, where e.g. Bi2NiMnO6 has been found to be ferroelectric below 480 K. Here, we present a systematic investigation of synthesis and characterization of new Bi-based double perovskites such as Bi2BB°O6 (B=Ho, Dy & B° = Mn, Co). Polycrystalline samples of Bi2HoMnO6 were synthesized by the conventional solid state reaction method. The structural analysis was carried out with powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiments. The surface morphology was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the composition was analyzed using energy dispersive spectrometry (EDX).
