We present a rotation-sensing scheme utilizing cold atoms based on a time averaged adiabatic potential (TAAP) ring trap. A waveguide is realized for trapping and coherently transporting atoms in a ring shaped geometry. For the first time, we demonstrate spin dependent trapping and manipulation of neutral atoms in a ring trap. In a TAAP ring, atoms can be split and recombined either using atomic spins via two photon rf/mw pulse as beam-splitters and mirrors or external degree of freedom i.e. momentum, via velocity selective near resonant two Bragg/Raman laser beams. Experimental results are presented, trapping atoms in a TAAP ring, variable radii of the ring and guiding the two clock states of 87Rb independently in two arms of the interferometer.
