Dark Current of Neutron Irradiated SiPMs — •Svenja Nadine Sonder1, Matteo Centis Vignali1, 2, Erika Garutti1, Robert Klanner1, and Jörn Schwandt11Institut für Experimentalphysik, Universität Hamburg, Germany — 2CERN, Geneva, Switzerland

Silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) have become popular as photon detectors in high-energy physics and many other fields due to their excellent performance. One major limitation, especially for the use in colliders, is the radiation damage by hadrons. In this talk, SiPMs with 3484 pixels of 15x15 µm2 produced by the company KETEK have been irradiated with reactor neutrons to different fluences up to 1012 neq/cm2 (1 MeV equivalent neutrons). Current-voltage measurements have been performed at different temperatures between -30C and +30C. To better understand the generation of the dark current, parameters like the breakdown voltage and the activation energy given by the Arrhenius model have been investigated. A parameterization, which describes the temperature and dose dependence of the current-voltage results within 5%, is presented.
